We have some exciting improvements to tutor pay we’re eager to share with you! Keep reading to learn how pay in the new classroom works.
Reconnection Pay:
Pay in the new classroom is calculated from the first time you connect with your student to the last time you connect with your student. Therefore, if your student leaves at any point during the call, so long as they return to the classroom, you will be paid for the missed chat time in between.
Here’s a real life example to illustrate the change!
Scenario 1: My student has tech issues
Tutor receives a 30 minute on-demand call at 8:00. At 8:10 the student experiences technical issues and leaves the classroom. The student then returns at 8:15. The pair completes the lesson until the lesson ends at 8:30. The tutor is paid for the full 30 minutes and sees this as a 30-minute lesson logged in their chat history.
Late Student Pay:
You will now be paid for the class time you wait for a late student to arrive (up to 10 minutes) – no more missing out on pay because your student called a few minutes late!
Regardless of whether your student is present, you will start being paid at the lesson start time, given you are inside the classroom and have started the lesson. Because you will now be paid for all the time you wait for your students to join (as low as 1 minute and up to 10 minutes), late student pay will replace no-show payments. As long as you are in the classroom with the lesson started, you will be paid for the time you wait!
📝 Please note: If you start the lesson after the scheduled start time, you will not be paid for the time you are late.
You are still required to wait for your student until 10 minutes past the reservation start time. After that, late student pay is capped and you are free to end the lesson and take other calls, or stay in the classroom and continue waiting for your reserved student.
📝 Please note: Once you end the lesson, your reserved student will no longer be able to enter the classroom.
Important Note on Pay: All of the late student minutes and chat minutes for each lesson will appear as one total in the call log on your History tab. Late student minutes will not be displayed in the misc credits section of your account, even if the student is a no-show. Total pay for each lesson will be added to your current balance once you have ended that lesson.

Scenario 2: My student is less than 10 minutes late
Tutor enters the classroom and starts the reserved lesson at 8:00 but the student doesn’t arrive until 8:05. The pair completes the remainder of the call. The tutor will be paid for those 5 minutes they were waiting in addition to the 25 minutes chatted, earning the tutor the full 30 minutes of pay. The tutor is paid for the full 30 minutes and sees this as a 30-minute lesson logged in their chat history.
Scenario 3: My student is more than 10 minutes late
Tutor starts the lesson on time but the student is late. The tutor chooses to wait for their student beyond the first 10 minutes of the lesson requirement rather than leave. The student arrives 15 minutes late and the pair completes the remaining 15 minutes of the lesson. The tutor will be paid for the first 10 minutes of the call that they waited for their student to arrive, as well as payment for the 15 minutes of lesson time. The tutor is paid for 25 minutes and sees this as one 25-minute lesson logged in their chat history.
