We’re excited to introduce a new Cambly classroom!
While many features are the same, the biggest change is that you will meet your student inside a classroom rather than answer a call. While a seemingly small change, this new classroom model is the first step toward some exciting new upcoming improvements around scheduling, connecting with students, tutor pay and pay transparency, and an overall improved classroom experience!
Classroom Crash Course
While the changes to the classroom are outlined in detail throughout these articles, here is your New Classroom crash course in 4 easy steps:
1. Entering the Classroom🚪
From your dashboard press Enter Classroom. This will bring you to the tutor lobby. For reservations, this will appear 10 minutes before the scheduled start time of the lesson. So if your schedule allows, go on in and have a look before you start the lesson for the student!
2. The Tutor Lobby 🔊
Once inside the lobby, you are able to select your audio and video inputs and make sure you're video ready!
3. 🟢 Starting the Lesson 🟢
Reservations: While you are able to enter the classroom up to 10 minutes early, you are unable to start the lesson until within a minute of the reserved lesson start time. If you are in the classroom early, the Start Lesson button will be unaccessible until this time. Once you are able to start the lesson, the Start Lesson button will illuminate.
At lesson start time, please press Start Lesson to allow the student to enter the classroom. If you do not start the lesson, your student will not be able to enter and you may be marked as a no show!
On-demand lessons: The lesson will begin automatically once you navigate from the tutor lobby into the classroom. There will be no Start Lesson button for on-demand lessons.
4. 🛑 Ending the Lesson 🛑
Lessons automatically end when the timer gets down to 00:00.
If for any reason you need to end the lesson early, be sure to press End Lesson.
Important Note: The lesson is recorded from the first time the student enters the classroom with the tutor until the lesson is complete – even during the time between when a student may leave and return to the classroom within the duration of a lesson. As always, a red dot 🔴 illuminates next to your tutor name when the lesson is being recorded.
