Your existing Cambly profile is used for Pro, and is the first thing a Pro student sees before deciding to book. It's also part of what Cambly reviews when you submit your interest form.
This article explains what Pro students are looking for in a Pro tutor and how to make sure your profile reflects that. You can update your profile anytime from the Profile tab in your tutor account.
Profile Picture
- Use a professional-looking, friendly headshot.
- Ensure good lighting and a clear, high-resolution image.
- Avoid blurry or pixelated pictures.
✨ Pro Tip: A picture is worth a thousand words and is a great way to capture attention – quick glances included!
Profile Video
- Create an introductory video from a sturdy surface to avoid camera shake. 30 seconds minimum, but longer is better! (1-2 minutes)
- Please ensure your video has clear audio, good lighting, and no lag or freezing. Please omit video and photos of others in your submission.
- Speak clearly and enthusiastically.
- Highlight your teaching style, expertise, and personality.
✨ Pro Tip: Keep your profile videos fresh and updated with your latest skills by re-recording every year!
Your Written Profile
Before a student can even make that quick glance, they’ll often input keywords to hone in on their preferences. Using those same keywords in your profile ensures that as students narrow their focus, your strengths still stand out. Make sure your bio is complete with no spelling or grammatical errors.
- Subjects: Include specific subjects you tutor (e.g., “Education”, “Interview Preparation”, “Technology”, “Business English”, “Medical”, “Hospitality”, IELTS, etc.)
- Skill Levels: Mention skill levels you cater to (e.g., "Beginner," "Intermediate," "Advanced").
- Teaching Styles: Describe your teaching approach (e.g., "Patient," "Interactive," "Problem-solving”, “Focused").
- Specializations: Highlight any unique areas of expertise (e.g., "Test Prep," "Essay Writing," "Study Skills").
- Language skills: You can list the language skills you are strongest and most confident in teaching (e.g. accent reduction, English for business, pronunciation) so students can see exactly where you can help them improve.
- Expertise: You can also highlight 3 areas selected from your language skills, test familiarity, and industry familiarity so that a prospective student might better understand what they can gain from you if they booked.
✨ Pro Tip: We recommend choosing the three areas where you're strongest and most confident teaching, as these are prominently featured on your profile!
Please also make sure your profile meets all general Cambly platform requirements.
