What is Cambly Pro
Cambly Pro is a structured English learning experience for students with specific goals, built around personalized lesson plans, targeted feedback, and ongoing progress.
Pro students are looking for a tutor who can help them build toward their goals over time. How your lessons take shape will always be up to you and your student, guided by a plan you build together.
To help you deliver this experience, Cambly Pro gives you access to exclusive AI-enhanced tools — from setting learning targets to building lesson plans and crafting feedback — so you’re set up for success from your very first lesson. More information about tools exclusive to Cambly Pro will be shared in the weeks ahead.
Pro tutors earn $0.25/minute ($15/hour) for Pro lessons.
How to qualify for Cambly Pro
This article covers everything you need to qualify for Pro:
Your Profile
Pro students browse tutor profiles carefully before booking. Your profile is often what makes the difference between a student choosing you or moving on. It's also part of what we review when you submit your Pro interest form.
Pro students see your existing Cambly profile and typically look for:
- A clear, professional-looking photo
- A quality introduction video (good audio, good lighting, professional presentation)
- A complete bio with no spelling or grammar errors

Tutor Stats
Your stats need to meet the following for the 3 most recent complete calendar months:
- Positive reviews: 99% or higher
- Attendance: 98% or higher
- Repeat learners: 5 or higher
To check your stats: go to the History tab of your tutor account. Then, click Advanced Stats. From there, you can navigate to past months’ stats.
Why these stats?
Each stat connects to a core part of the Pro student experience and reflects what they’re looking for when they book and stick with a tutor.
- Positive reviews (99%+): Pro students come with a wide range of goals. Consistently high positive reviews shows you're able to meet students where they are and deliver lessons that work for them, whatever they're working toward.
- Attendance (98%+): Pro students plan their schedules around their lessons, and their progress builds session to session. Showing up consistently is what keeps that momentum going, and it's what allows students to trust that their learning journey is in good hands.
- Repeat learners (5+): When students keep coming back to you, it shows you can build a relationship, track progress, and keep learners engaged over time, which is exactly what Pro learners are looking for.
Important note: Stats vary throughout the month, and attendance and repeat learners reset at the start of each month. Only complete months count toward eligibility. So if you're checking your stats in the month of May, you'd look at April, March, and February.
Cambly Pro is still in its early stages, and we may update these requirements as we learn what works best for tutors and students. We'll make sure to keep you informed of any changes.
Good Standing
Your Cambly account needs to be in Good Standing. The good news is that most Cambly tutors are in Good Standing! Good Standing means that you don't have serious or frequent policy violations. One-off issues (like a single late start or a single missed lesson) in general will not affect your account's Good Standing.
If your is not in Good Standing, a member of our Tutor Quality & Guidance Team reaches out to you directly about a policy violation. Keep in mind, though, that not every outreach from this team means your account is on Probation. If you're unsure, our Tutor Support team can clarify your status before you complete the form.
Otherwise, feel free to go ahead and complete the Pro Interest Form — if there is a good standing concern, we'll let you know during the review process.

How to Become a Pro Tutor
If you meet all three criteria, fill out the Pro Interest Form to express your interest.
After you submit, we'll review your form and be in touch within 8-12 weeks. We'll let you know if you've been added to our Pro-ready pool, or if there are any updates needed before we can move forward – in which case you'll need to make those changes and resubmit the form.
Note: We add tutor to Pro in phases based on student demand, so there may be a wait between being added to the Pro-ready pool of tutors and receiving access to Cambly Pro.
FAQs
I already tutor this way. How is Pro different?
Pro is a dedicated environment for students who have specifically signed up for structured, goal-oriented lessons with a consistent tutor — it's not a new tutoring method, it's a new context for the tutoring you're already doing. You'll also have access to exclusive tools designed to make that experience easier to deliver.
Pro is still in its early stages, and we're onboarding tutors gradually based on student demand. We're excited to finally be opening this up more broadly, and selection is based on a set of criteria across your overall status on the platform. More details on the selection criteria will be shared in the weeks ahead.
What counts as a "complete" month?
A complete month is a full calendar month that has already ended. So in May, for example, the 3 most recent complete months would be April, March, and February. You don't need to have tutored every day in a month for it to count — your stats just need to meet the stated Pro criteria for each of those complete months.
How do I know if my account is in Good Standing with Cambly?
If your account is in Good Standing, a member of our Tutor Quality & Guidance Team reaches out to you directly about a policy violation. Keep in mind, though, that not every outreach from this team means your account is on Probation. If you're unsure, our Tutor Support team can clarify your status before you complete the form.
Otherwise, feel free to go ahead and complete the form — if there is a Good Standing concern, we'll let you know during the review process.
How do I know my stats?
Go to History → Advanced Stats in your tutor account. Your positive reviews, attendance, and repeat learner stats need to meet the criteria above for the most recent 3 months.
Will these criteria change?
Pro is still growing. The criteria may evolve as we learn what works best for students and tutors. We'll keep you updated if anything changes.
I currently only tutor on Cambly Kids, can I join Pro?
Cambly Pro is designed for adult learners with specific goals, so Pro tutor eligibility is based on stats from adult lessons — positive reviews, attendance, and repeat learners with adult students. We do not currently have a Pro Kids product.
If you currently teach exclusively on Cambly Kids, you're welcome to start taking adult Private+ lessons to build the needed tutor stats. Once your adult tutoring stats meet the criteria for 3 consecutive complete months, you're eligible to submit the Pro interest form.
What if my stats change after I submit my form?
If your stats drop significantly before we've had a chance to invite you, we may reach out before giving your account access to Pro.
Do I need to keep meeting these criteria once I'm on Pro?
Once you're on Pro, the best thing you can do is keep doing what got you here — maintaining strong stats helps ensure you and your students have a great experience.
That said, a small dip here and there won't put your access at risk.

If we update any requirements for maintaining Pro access, we'll let all Pro tutors know at that time.
How long until I get access to Pro after I'm added to the pool?
Access to Pro happens in phases based on student demand and timezone needs. There's no set timeline as it depends on when we need tutors in your area.
