As a Pro tutor, you have access to AI-powered lesson feedback that comes pre-filled, editable, and ready to send directly to your student by email. Here's a quick overview of what the tool does:
- Generates feedback covering what your student did well, areas to work on, and practice ideas
- Suggests a topic for the next lesson to prompt your student to rebook
- Carries your feedback and lesson suggestion forward into slides at the start of your next lesson together
The Feedback Tool can be accessed both inside and outside the classroom and will automatically generate feedback for any new Pro lessons you have moving forward.
Read on for details on how each piece works.
How It Works
The Pro feedback lesson tool uses AI to prefill student feedback sections that you can edit and review before sending to your students.
- During the lesson, click the clipboard icon in the upper right corner to open the feedback form. You can use this space to jot down notes as you go that will appear alongside your AI-generated feedback when you review it later, helping you personalize it.
- If you prefer to write and send feedback manually from within the classroom, you can do that here too.
- Note: if you send feedback from within the classroom, AI-generated feedback will not be generated for that lesson.
- After the lesson has completed, our tool will automatically review the lesson transcript to generate feedback. This can take up to 24 hours.
- When the feedback is ready to review, you’ll see a status, “Ready for Review”, appear. We’ll also send you an email notification letting you know there’s feedback ready.
- Review and edit the feedback to match your style and your students' needs. You can also:
- Add a personalized note that will appear at the top of the feedback email your student receives.
- Review and edit the AI-suggested next lesson topic – a recommendation for what to work on in your next lesson together.
- When ready, simply hit send and we’ll deliver it to your student by email.
What Your Student Sees
Your student will only see what you include — nothing is required. Depending on what you send, their email may include:
- Your personalized note
- A suggested topic for the next lesson, shown prominently at the top to prompt them to book their next lesson with you, if they don't already have one scheduled
- Your lesson feedback: what they did well, areas to work on, and practice ideas
Connecting Lessons with Slides
When you send feedback, it automatically carries forward into your next lesson together. At the start of that lesson, slides will appear to help you and your student pick up right where you left off:
- Slide 1 – Your Feedback Summary: Highlights what the student did well and what to work on, based on the feedback you sent.
- Slide 2 – Ideas for Today's Lesson: Shows the next lesson topic you suggested. If your student is enrolled in a curriculum, that will also appear here — so you and your student can kick off the lesson by deciding together what to focus on.
Note: Slides are generated based on what you include in the feedback form:
- If you send feedback but don't suggest a next lesson topic, only the feedback summary slide will appear.
- If you suggest a next lesson topic but don't send feedback, only the lesson ideas slide will appear.
- If you send both, both slides will appear.
Tracking Feedback Status
Within the Pro feedback page, there are three tabs you can access:
- Unsent - feedback that will expire soon and feedback that is ready to review
- Processing - feedback that the tool is currently generating
- Recently Sent - any feedback that you have already sent
Unsent - feedback that will expire soon and feedback that is ready to review will be stored as shown here.
Processing - feedback that the tool is currently processing will be listed as shown here.
Recently Sent - any feedback that you have already sent will be shown as above.
The tutor dashboard and history tab also display the status of feedback for each of your completed lessons. Here's an overview of each status:
- Processing - we’re actively generating feedback
- Ready for Review - feedback is ready for your review
- Sent - includes the date we sent it to your student
- Expiring - is expiring within 3 days
- Expired - feedback has expired and can no longer be sent
- Unavailable - an internal error made feedback unable to be sent and no further action is needed
Note: Feedback is available to review and send for 1 week before it expires. Any sent feedback will disappear after 2 weeks.
Note: If you decide not to send manual feedback before the lesson ends, you'll be unable to send or access the feedback tool until it finishes generating.
Lesson feedback is crucial for student progress, and the Pro feedback tool is designed to handle the heavy lifting while keeping you in full control of the final message.
Student Practice Between Lessons
We're trying out something new with a small group of Pro students. After a lesson, the feedback you give powers a short voice practice activity with Cambly AI — so students can keep practicing what you suggested between lessons.
