Sometimes a student may ask their tutor a Cambly-related question that they may not know the answer to or need help figuring out. If you don't know the answer, it's always best to advise the student to get in touch with the Cambly Student Support Team. However, we have made a list of a few FAQs from Cambly students that you can look over just in case your student asks!
How do I pay for Cambly and how much?
Students can view pricing and payment options on the "Subscriptions" tab of the website or app. Cambly's programs are priced extremely competitively, with pretty much all revenue going directly to our tutors. Tutors can see the price of our subscriptions by opening this link (when you're not logged in to your tutor account, or are using an Incognito window). Students can pay using credit card, debit card, or a local payment provider for some regions.
How can I chat for free?
While Cambly is not a free service, students can earn more minutes by sharing Cambly with their friends. Students can find their referral link by clicking on "Get Free Minutes" on the app or the website.
When a student refers their friends, their friends will each receive 15 free minutes on Cambly to try it out. For each of the student's friends who purchases, the student will also receive 15 minutes for free. Students can track which ones of their friends signed up from their Referrals page here: https://www.cambly.com/en/student/referrals
How do subscriptions work?
Students can choose a monthly subscription package based on how much they want to use Cambly. Subscriptions range from as little as 15 min/1x a week to as much as 120 min/everyday. Each subscription lasts for one month and begins instantly, as soon as the student pays.
Students can use all of their allotted minutes in one session or space them out during the day with multiple tutors. Your student's minutes refresh each day at 3am, their local time. The idea is their Cambly day refreshes as they sleep.
Each new week on Cambly begins again on Monday so, if a student's subscription allows for chats 3 days each week, they can choose any 3 days a week, starting each Monday at 3am. If they don't use all 3 days during the week, those minutes will expire.
Students can upgrade or downgrade at any time on their Subscriptions page. They only pay the difference in the price, prorated by the number of days they've used. There is no change fee. Students may also pause/hold their subscription plans for 1 week, 2 weeks, or 3 weeks.
How do I make a reservation? Why can't I create this reservation?
Students can make reservations with you from your reservation link OR from your tutor profile. You can find your personal reservation link from the Reservations tab in your tutor account. It will look something like this: www.cambly.com/en/student/tutor/USERNAME#schedule
Students can also reserve tutors based on which time they want the reservation by going to the Reservation tab in their student account. There, they can search for their preferred time and see which tutors are available.
Is your student still having trouble making reservations?
Students may not be able to make reservations for a few other reasons:
- they've used their daily/weekly minutes already
- they are trying to book too close to the reservation time (6, 12, or 24 hours in advance of your weekly schedule OR less than 2 hours before an upcoming Priority Hour)
- they purchased a Group subscription
- they have another reservation coming up
- their subscription will end before then and they have turned off the auto-renew feature
-
their subscription has been paused (students pause subscriptions themselves, so they would likely already know if this is the case)
How do I reset my password?
Students can reset their passwords by following the steps below:
- Go here: https://www.cambly.com/en#forgotPassword
- Enter your username or email and click 'Reset Password'
- An email will be sent to your inbox with a reset link
Can you share your email address or Skype name?
Our policy for tutors and students is to not provide contact information outside of Cambly (email, Skype, Whatsapp, etc.). We know that tutors get dozens of these requests all the time, and it's typically when students are trying to get some free help. Keeping both tutors and students on our platform helps us ensure that everyone stays safe and tutors get paid.
Though students will often request your personal contact info, please just let the students know that it's our policy not to provide that information.
