As you work with Pro students, you'll discover what works best in different situations and your particular skillset. To help you find how you can make your unique talents shine, here are a few best practices that we’ve seen your fellow tutors use to have success:
- Tutor Talk Time: Pro students are highly motivated and need to practice speaking. Keep the focus on student output by facilitating conversations and avoiding over-explaining.
- Active Learning: Instead of just explaining new vocabulary, get your students to use it right away. Letting them lead the conversation and using quick, impactful interventions, you'll help them learn more effectively and build their confidence.
- Review & Recycle: Don't just move from one topic to the next. Build review and recycling into your lessons by regularly revisiting previously learned material (vocab, grammar) in warm-ups or activities to ensure it sticks.
- Offer Hands-on Guidance and Learning Content: Actively provide useful language, error corrections, vocabulary, and skill practice relevant to the student’s needs. Add learning content by naturally bringing in teachable moments to each session.
